With a Slight Deceleration, Economy Strengthens Again

The summer's nationwide unemployment rate fell again to 4.6 percent - the lowest monthly unemployment rate since July 2001.  dol.gov  The amount of new job openings in Milwaukee County is up 27% from the number of openings available in 2005. Fox6 & HRS Fight Juvenile Arthritis in Our CEO's Backyard!

Approximately 150 friends "toughed out" the rain in support of entertainment, friendship and an awareness campaign for Juvenile ArthritisAll were entertained in style as intended, the rain cleared up and the event was a success!  Entertainment was provided by a 90-minute live Fox6 "Weather in Your Backyard" broadcast with Vince Condella.  A wine tasting benefit and silent auction for the Arthritis Foundation enjoyed wide participation.  Wisconsin WAMI CD of the Year winners, Bascom Hill performed to cap the evening's entertainment.   We thank all in attendance, and we're thankful for the countless smiles!  Event contributors, positive outcomes, photo gallery and recap are available at HRS and Fox6

Handbooks Evolve and Find Home on Company Intranet!

While handbooks continue to gain popularity with employees, on-line versions replace hard copy.  Additionally, these tools have evolved to reflect a more educated and diverse workforce. Since the 1960s, manuals have responded to major movements, including the relaxation of dress codes, changes in technology, employees becoming more litigious and, of course, the increases of women in management roles.  In fact, they've evolved so much (with more change on the way) that in many workplaces paper manuals no longer exist.  Article
